About us

Central Research Laboratories (CRL) was established in September 2014 as a research catalyst by the Faculty of Medicine to enhance research services to the researchers in view of developing an environment more conducive for research.

Back in 2012, Medical Biotechnology Laboratory was the only pre-existing facility that offers laboratory space, workbenches and workstation that provided a conducive research environment to FOM research community. With the availability of HIR and other research grants, there was an increase in the demand for laboratory space and access to research equipment from both locally- and internationally-trained faculty members.

Thus, with this in mind, the faculty has centralised the management of all three research laboratories and a supply store under one umbrella: Medical Biotechnology Laboratory (MBL), Translational Core Laboratory (TCL) & Cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory (CMBL) and FOM Supply Store (FOMSS). The CRL management is under the purview of the Deputy Dean of Research office.
